Spring/summer Equine & Rider Model Call: A Limited Fine Art Portrait Experience

There is a quiet, unspoken language between a horse and the person who loves them. A shared breath. A familiar presence. A moment of trust that exists without direction.

This spring, I’m opening a limited Equine & Rider Model Call for horse owners and riders who want to preserve that connection through thoughtful, fine art equine photography. These sessions are designed to honor the relationship between horse and human in a way that feels natural, refined, and deeply personal.

With only five sessions available, this model call is intentionally exclusive and carefully curated.

A Fine Art Approach to Equine & Rider Photography

Unlike traditional equine photo sessions that rely on posing or performance, my approach is centered on presence and connection. Each equine and rider portrait session is unhurried, allowing space for genuine interaction and moments of stillness to unfold naturally.

This model call will help shape upcoming equine portrait work and storytelling collections, which is why participation is limited and thoughtfully selected.

Why Late Spring & Early Summer Are Ideal for Equine Portraits

Late spring and early summer provide some of the most beautiful conditions for equine and rider photography.

June and early July offer:

  • Soft, even light

  • Lush fields and layered greenery

  • Long evenings that allow for a calm, unhurried pace

These natural elements create a timeless backdrop that enhances the story without overpowering it — allowing the bond between horse and rider to remain the focus.

What Selected Models Will Receive

Each selected equine and rider partnership will receive:

  • A complimentary equine & rider photo session

  • Three low-resolution digital images for personal use

  • The option to purchase additional images and fine art products at a special model-call rate (optional)

While digital images are included, the heart of this experience lies in the creation of finished artwork — heirloom-quality pieces designed to live beautifully in your home.

Who This Equine Model Call Is For

This model call is open to a wide range of equine partnerships. What matters most is the relationship you share with your horse and the care taken with their well-being.

Eligible participants include:

  • Any horse breed — from minis to drafts

  • Male or female riders and owners

  • Children, teens, and adults — all ages welcome

  • One horse per session

Multiple applications are welcome; however, each session will feature one horse and one rider or owner. Show experience or discipline is not required.

Location Details for Equine & Rider Sessions

Sessions may take place at:

  • The stable where your horse is boarded, provided the location includes open fields, foliage, or landscaped areas, or

  • A trail or park your horse has previously visited and feels comfortable in

Familiar environments are essential. The goal is to create portraits that feel calm and authentic, not rushed or overstimulated.

Spring & Early Summer Session Dates

Equine & rider model call sessions will be held on the following dates:

  • June 13

  • June 20

  • June 27

  • July 11

  • July 18

Each session will last no more than 90 minutes, allowing time for breaks, natural pacing, and a thoughtful experience that prioritizes the horse’s comfort.

Participation Requirements

To ensure a safe and respectful experience for all involved, the following requirements apply:

  • Horses must be groomed and handled safely

  • Rider/owner must sign a model release

  • Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian

  • An experienced handler must be present

    • The handler must not be the person being photographed

These guidelines allow each equine portrait session to remain calm, safe, and focused on connection rather than logistics.
