Senior Portraits

At the edge of everything ahead

A moment shaped by everything that has quietly formed who they are.

The horses, the dogs, the routines, and the everyday life that has carried them to this point. Portraits that hold who they are now, and the life that shaped them along the way.

Senior Portraits with Your Four-Legged Best Friend

Honors the bond between graduating seniors and the animals who have been part of their high school years.

For many students, horses and dogs are more than pets. They are constant companions through early mornings, long days, and the quiet, defining moments of growing up.

My senior session invites seniors to include those companions in their portraits, creating meaningful artwork that reflects both who they are and the relationships that have helped shape this chapter of life.

The goal is to create thoughtful, emotionally resonant portraits that reflect seniors, animals, and the landscapes that have framed their stories.

Seniors are welcome to include their horse, their dog, or both as part of their session, depending on the story they want to tell.

A girl with long brown hair, wearing a white sweater and jeans, leans her forehead against a brown horse in a fenced outdoor area during the evening or late afternoon with autumn leaves in the background.

Your animals are not treated as additions to the portrait, but as part of the life that has shaped this season.

Whether it is a quiet moment with a dog who has grown up beside them, or a final portrait at the barn where countless early mornings were spent, these details are approached with care and intention.

Every session is guided to feel natural and unforced, allowing space for both individual portraits and meaningful moments shared with the animals who have been part of their journey.

Every senior session feels natural from beginning to end.

  • Yearbook Photo

We begin with simple, unhurried direction that helps them settle into the camera without pressure or expectation. This first part of the session begins with their yearbook headshot, captured in a way that feels confident, natural, and true to them.

  • Individual Portraits

We then move into individual portraits, allowing space to ease into the experience and feel comfortable in front of the camera. This is also where we ensure there are meaningful images for parents and grandparents, capturing both timeless portraits and small, in-between moments that reflect who they are at this stage of life.

  • Shared Moments

Once they feel relaxed and confident, we begin to weave in their horse, dog, or both. These moments are never rushed or staged, instead unfolding naturally with quiet direction and real interaction.

The entire session is shaped by light, location, and personality, allowing space for both movement and stillness. The result is a collection of portraits that feel honest, relaxed, and reflective of this season of life.

“My horse or dog can’t be off lead…”

That is completely okay. Most horses and dogs are not photographed completely free during sessions.

Safety and comfort always come first. Whether we are working with horses or dogs, they remain safely guided throughout the session, with careful attention given to their comfort and the environment we are working in.

Any necessary handling elements are kept as unobtrusive as possible and can be refined during the final artwork process, ensuring the focus remains on the connection and the moment itself.

There is often more happening behind the scenes than appears in the finished portrait, but the final images are always created to feel natural, relaxed, and effortless.

How it Works

  • A young girl with long dark hair and hoop earrings sitting on the grass, kissing a white and brown horse's face near a tree.

    Step 1: Reserve Your Session

A limited number of sessions are accepted each month to ensure every client receives a highly personalized experience from planning through final artwork.

Once your session is reserved, we’ll begin designing your portrait experience together. From location selection and wardrobe guidance to understanding the relationship you share with your horse, every detail is approached with intention and care.

  • A woman with long hair smiling while sitting on a gray blanket with a small brown curly-haired dog, surrounded by autumn foliage in a forest during sunset.

    Step 2: Planning & Preparation

Before your session, we’ll discuss the overall vision for your portraits, including location, styling, timing, and the atmosphere you’re drawn to most.

Whether your session takes place in open fields, wooded trails, at the barn, or in a carefully chosen outdoor setting, the goal is to create imagery that feels refined, natural, and personal to you.

You’ll also receive preparation guidance to help you feel relaxed and fully prepared before session day arrives.

  • A woman with red hair, wearing a black sweater and multiple rings, is lying on a brown horse, petting its neck and smiling. The background features blurred autumn trees and foliage.

    Step 3: Your Portrait Session

Your session is designed to feel calm, natural, and unhurried.

Working in carefully selected outdoor locations and natural light, I’ll guide you through the experience while allowing space for genuine interaction and connection to unfold naturally. The result is imagery that feels refined, emotional, and deeply personal without appearing overly posed.

  • A woman with long hair in a bun standing next to a white horse in a green outdoor setting with trees in the background.

    Step 4: Artful Retouching

Following your session, your portraits are carefully reviewed and individually refined by hand.

Each image receives thoughtful attention to color, light, composition, and detail while preserving the natural feeling of the moment itself. The editing process is designed to enhance the artwork without overwhelming it, creating portraits that feel timeless rather than trend-driven.

Your finished gallery is typically ready within several weeks of your session.

  • A young woman with wavy brown hair sitting on the ground next to a large tree, smiling, holding a small brown and white dog wearing a plaid coat, in a lush green park.

    Step 5: Your Viewing Appointment

Once your gallery is complete, we’ll meet for a personalized viewing and ordering appointment.

This is where you’ll see your portraits for the first time and select the artwork that feels most meaningful for your home. I’ll guide you through wall art, framed pieces, albums, and fine art print options while helping you choose sizes and arrangements that fit your space beautifully.

The experience is designed to feel approachable, collaborative, and tailored entirely to you.

  • A woman with dark hair and a green t-shirt lying on a grassy field next to two golden retrievers, one panting and smiling, the other resting with eyes closed.

Step 6: Artwork Designed to Last

Your finished artwork is produced through a professional print lab using archival materials selected for both beauty and longevity.

From framed wall art to fine art prints and heirloom albums, each piece is created to live beyond the screen and become part of your everyday surroundings for years to come.

There is something entirely different about seeing these moments exist physically within your home, where they can be revisited long after the session itself has passed.
